You might be wondering… who exactly is this Yasmine?
Well, while most of the kids in my first-grade class were busy digging in the sandbox or swinging from the monkey bars, I was playing “teacher” with my besties—complete with imaginary tests I made them take. (Honestly, I still don’t know how I had any friends back then… I mean, who wants pop quizzes during lunch break?!)
Fast forward a few years—and a few passport stamps—and I finally took the leap into the world of education, starting with American accent training. That first step opened the door to conversational English, academic programs, and eventually TOEFL and IELTS prep, focusing on all four core skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
But hands down, one of my most unforgettable teaching adventures was spending nearly two years teaching Aviation English (ICAO) to military pilots from around the globe. What an experience!
Over the years, I’ve taught in colleges, universities, grade schools, high schools, royal palaces, and online platforms. I’ve worn many hats—Head of the English Department, Communication Lab In-Charge, and Assistant Director of Studies. I hold a CELTA from the University of Cambridge, and I’ve designed full communication labs and custom training programs for schools and companies alike. I've even published articles on teacher training and classroom management, and had the joy of mentoring fellow educators around the world.
Oh—and I also have a background in radio broadcasting, which makes me extra sensitive to sound (and a bit of a pronunciation nerd!). That gift helps me connect with students as an accent trainer—and nothing fills my cup like being in a classroom, whether I’m working with 40 curious minds or just one eager learner. I’m a fish in water when I’m teaching.
So, do I love teaching and training? Absolutely. It’s not just what I do—it’s who I am. Want to know more about my travels and writing life? Visit: 🌍 www.Marsha-Marie.weebly.com (formerly listed as www.marshamarie.com)
